A: Poi Planet is simple. It is the ability to mix public relations, promotions, media, advertising, printing, and marketing skills, into one big bowl, in order to help others with their communication needs.
Q: Why Poi Planet?
A: Why not? It's a service that is needed. You see, there are a lot of people out there who may have a great product or a service to promote but they don't know how, or they don't know where to get started. Or sometimes they may have an idea of what they'd like to do but don't quite know how to execute it. That's where I come in.
Q: By doing what?
A: By offering a mix of communication services. A hybrid of sorts. It's called marketing communications or for those of you who are in-the-know, MarCom. You see, under the traditional marketing umbrella, public relations and advertising are considered two very separate disciplines. They never cross over and they never mix. But with MarCom, the editorial pitch or the promotion gets the chance to work alongside the advertising or print collateral, delivering a more cohesive message to the audience. Let me tell you... most of my p.r. colleagues do not have the desire to do advertising and vice versa. I happen to be an anomaly because I have a background in both disciplines, which I enjoy and have a natural passion for.
Q: So why wouldn't I go with a big p.r. or advertising agency?
A: You can if you have the budget. By all means. But these are changing times. Most companies can no longer afford the luxury of having both on board or even one. It's not rocket science but doesn't it make better sense to work with a service that can handle a mixture of needs without all of the fuss? And for some companies, bringing Poi Planet on board is just a more productive way to compliment a campaign that they may already have going. You know, like a helpful side dish of communications.
Q: What kind of projects do you handle?
A: All sorts. At this particular moment, I'm writing content for a music website as well as coordinating a promotion for a high-end wedding event planning company. Because I'm known in some parts of the communication world as a hospitality p.r. specialist, I also get the chance to work on hotel and spa projects too, but I'm not limited by that (see long boring bio). I also love creating campaigns for what I refer to as the "little guy" because I'm always rooting for the underdog to succeed, or what people may perceive as the underdog. Especially if the underdog has a great product or something wonderful to share with the world.
Q: How many in your staff?
A: Party of one. But on occasion, I will call out to other poi profesionals to join in on the festivities. These include some of the top freelance writers, promotion specialists, graphic/web designers, and printing brokers in town. The poi bowl is overflowing with talent just waiting to help.
All Pau (The End)
